Dances
Ballroom is separated in two categories:
Smooth and Rhythm
Smooth
Dance
Smooth consists of dances such as Waltz,
Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz and Quickstep.
They are designed to epitomize elegance, grace and poise. These dances
sweep around the room, following a counterclockwise direction. The sophistication
of these styles is hard to miss as they whirl across the dance floor.
Rhythm
Rhythm dances include Latin dances such as
Salsa, Cha-Cha, Rumba; as well as many versions of Swing, (to include East
Coast and West Coast), Shag and Jive. These expressive dances emote fun and excitement, romance and passion. They are
characterized by hip action, spins, sharp lines and quick movements. These are
great styles for any dance floor, from the night-club to the country-club.
